Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-13
We keep as little about you as the site needs to work. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising.
What we keep
- Account. The details you sign up with: an email address and a password (stored only in hashed form), or the account identifier and public profile name a sign-in provider shares with us.
- Profile. The username, display name, avatar and bio you choose to set.
- Content and activity. The builds you create, whether they are public or private, and your votes, comments and reports.
- Technical data. Sign-in sessions, and the IP address and browser type of requests, kept briefly to secure accounts, prevent abuse and fix errors.
- Page views. Aggregate, cookieless counts of which pages are visited.
Why
To run the site: signing you in, showing your content, sending account emails such as verification and password reset, preventing abuse, and fixing bugs. Public content, including your username, display name, avatar, bio and public builds, is visible to anyone and may be indexed by search engines.
Who processes it
Service providers that host the site, deliver email and report errors process data on our behalf, only as needed to provide the service. We do not share personal data with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Cookies
We set one first-party cookie, your sign-in session. It expires after 30 days or when you sign out. We set no third-party, advertising or tracking cookies.
Retention and your rights
Account, profile and content data stay until you delete your account. Expired sessions and technical data are removed automatically. You can edit your profile and delete content from your account at any time. To export or delete your account, email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will handle it within 30 days.
Children
BuildLock is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly keep data about them. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We will update this page when practices change; the date at the top tells you when. See also the terms of service.
